Who we are

Meet the team behind your care.

Every prescribing decision, every dispensed medicine, and every piece of health guidance on this site comes from a named, professionally regulated individual. Here's who they are, and how to verify each of them yourself.

Dr Abdishakur Mohamed Ali, Clinical Director

Dr Abdishakur Mohamed Ali MBBS, MRCGP

Medical Director

Dr Ali is a practising GP and Access Doctor's Medical Director, responsible for the clinical protocols and prescribing standards behind every consultation on the platform. He brings previous experience from the NHS 999 service, where remote clinical assessment and rapid, safe decision-making under real time pressure were part of daily practice.

As Medical Director, Dr Ali oversees the clinical questionnaires patients complete, sets the criteria prescribers use to approve or decline treatment, and leads on keeping those criteria current with NHS and specialist guidance.

Mr Nur Choudhury, Superintendent Pharmacist and Independent Prescriber

Mr Nur Choudhury

Superintendent Pharmacist & Independent Prescriber

Mr Choudhury is Access Doctor's Superintendent Pharmacist, the role legally responsible for ensuring the pharmacy operates to GPhC standards at every stage — from how medicines are stored and checked, to how dispensing decisions are made and recorded.

He is also a qualified Independent Prescriber, meaning he's personally able to assess patients and prescribe treatment directly — not only dispense what another prescriber has approved. This dual role means he oversees both ends of the safety chain: the clinical decision to treat, and the pharmacy standards behind delivering that treatment safely.

Dr Ali Ashrafuz Zaman, Clinical Governance and Audit Lead

Dr Ali Ashrafuz Zaman MBBS, FRCR, EBIR

Director of Clinical Governance

Dr Zaman leads clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement at Access Doctor. He is a senior NHS Consultant, a role he has held since 2017, and brings over a decade of senior NHS clinical leadership to how Access Doctor monitors and improves the safety of its own processes.

Unusually for a senior clinician, Dr Zaman is qualified in both medicine and pharmacy (MBBS, MPharm). Every order at an online pharmacy has two halves — the clinical decision to prescribe, and the pharmacy standards behind dispensing that medicine safely — and they're normally overseen by different professions. Dr Zaman has qualified in both, so when he audits Access Doctor's processes, he brings first-hand insight into each side of the safety chain rather than viewing it from one profession's vantage point.

Within the NHS, Dr Zaman leads audit and quality improvement for his hospital trust's Radiology Directorate. He is also a published author across peer-reviewed radiology journals. At Access Doctor, this governance experience translates directly into how prescribing criteria, incident review, and ongoing safety audits are structured.

How this team keeps you safe, in practice.

Dr Ali sets the clinical criteria every consultation is judged against. Our prescribers apply them to your answers — and decline treatment when it isn't clinically right. Mr Choudhury is legally accountable for every medicine that leaves the pharmacy. And Dr Zaman audits the whole process, so the standards don't just exist on paper — they're checked.

Regulated at every level.

Our clinical team's qualifications sit alongside Access Doctor's own regulatory standing — together, they're what ensures every order is handled safely, from consultation to delivery. Every registration above can be checked on the official GPhC and GMC registers.
