Elocon cream contains mometasone furoate 0.1%, a potent topical corticosteroid. It is licensed in the UK for the treatment of the inflammation and itching of psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis) and atopic dermatitis.
We supply Elocon cream in 30g and 100g tubes. It is a prescription-only medicine, so your online consultation is reviewed by a UK-registered prescriber, who confirms whether it is suitable for you and how to use it.
Apply a thin film to the affected skin once a day. Avoid long-term continuous use, and do not stop suddenly after long-term use.
Do not use Elocon cream on facial rosacea, acne, perioral dermatitis, skin infections, wounds or ulcerated skin, or for itching around the anus or genitals. It must not be used on or near the eyes, including the eyelids.
Prefer an ointment? Elocon Ointment contains the same active ingredient, mometasone furoate 0.1%.

Elocon cream for psoriasis at Access Doctor starts from £16.99. What you pay depends on the tube size you are prescribed.

Every price includes your online consultation, your private prescription and the medicine itself. There is no separate prescription charge and no subscription to sign up to.
Side effects reported with Elocon include a burning or tingling feeling, itching, pain or other reactions where it is applied, skin infection or boils, inflamed hair follicles, thinning of the skin, stretch marks, lighter patches of skin, increased hair growth and acne-like spots. In psoriasis, topical steroids can cause a flare-up when stopped and carry a risk of pustular psoriasis, so careful supervision is important. Stopping after long-term use can cause a withdrawal reaction, with redness, burning or stinging that may spread beyond the treated area. Tell your prescriber if you notice blurred vision.
Do not use Elocon cream if you are allergic to mometasone furoate, other corticosteroids or any of the ingredients. Do not use it on facial rosacea, acne, thin skin, perioral dermatitis, or for itching around the anus or genitals, or on skin with bacterial, viral, fungal or parasitic infections (such as impetigo, cold sores, shingles, chickenpox, warts or thrush), wounds or ulcerated skin. It is not suitable for widespread plaque psoriasis, and it must not be used on or near the eyes, including the eyelids. Access Doctor does not prescribe for anyone under 18 or for pregnant patients.
Apply a thin film of the cream to the affected skin once a day. Do not cover treated skin with a dressing unless your prescriber tells you to, and avoid long-term continuous use. After long-term use, do not stop suddenly: your prescriber may advise reducing gradually, for example by using it less often before stopping.
Elocon must not be used on or near the eyes, including the eyelids, or on facial rosacea or perioral dermatitis. If your prescriber advises using it elsewhere on your face, courses should be limited to 5 days and the area should not be covered.
After long-term use, stopping suddenly can cause a rebound flare with intense redness, stinging and burning. Your prescriber may advise reducing gradually, for example by using it less often before stopping. Speak to your prescriber if your skin flares up within days or weeks of stopping.
Yes. Mometasone furoate, the active ingredient in Elocon, is classed as a potent corticosteroid, and the pack label states that it is a strong steroid. It is a prescription-only medicine, so a prescriber checks it is suitable for you before it is supplied.
No. Elocon cream is a prescription-only medicine in the UK, so it must be prescribed by a qualified prescriber and dispensed by a registered pharmacy. At Access Doctor, your online consultation is reviewed by a UK prescriber, and the price includes your consultation and private prescription.
