Yes. A consultation and an independent check of your weight are needed. Licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 or above with a weight-related condition such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. This pack does not shorten or bypass that assessment.
The Wegovy tablets 10-day pack contains 10 Wegovy 1.5mg tablets (semaglutide), made by Novo Nordisk. Our pharmacy dispenses them from a standard pack, in their original blister to protect them from moisture and light, with the patient information leaflet. It contains the same medicine at the same starting dose as the 30-tablet 1.5mg pack.
It gives you a smaller first supply while you get used to the daily routine, which needs to be followed closely for the tablet to be absorbed. It also lets you see how you feel on the starting dose, which commonly causes stomach side effects such as nausea in the first days. If you decide not to continue, fewer tablets go unused.
It is not a test of whether Wegovy will work for you. 1.5mg is a starting dose, used to let your body adjust; weight change builds over months at higher doses, alongside changes to eating and activity. Stomach side effects are often more noticeable after the dose goes up, so how you feel at 1.5mg doesn't predict how you will feel later.
Wegovy tablets are licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 or above with at least one weight-related condition (you can check your BMI here). Before anything is prescribed, a GPhC-registered pharmacist independent prescriber reviews your medical history and medicines and checks your weight independently. Choosing this pack doesn't shorten or bypass that assessment.
If you continue, you move on to the Wegovy tablets 30-tablet pack at 1.5mg. The dose is increased only after at least one month at each step, to 4mg, 9mg and then 25mg, with a review before each increase.

Wegovy Tablets contain semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that works by mimicking a naturally occurring hormone in the body. This pack contains the 1.5mg starting dose only, the same strength and formulation used at the beginning of standard Wegovy Tablets treatment. Semaglutide acts on areas of the brain involved in appetite and slows how quickly the stomach empties. At the 1.5mg starting dose, the main early effects are on how your stomach feels rather than on your weight, which is why nausea and mild stomach upset are common in the first days and weeks. Starting low lets your body adjust before the dose is increased.
Because semaglutide is a peptide, it would normally be broken down in the stomach before it could be absorbed. Wegovy Tablets overcome this using a co-formulated absorption enhancer called SNAC, which is why the strict administration protocol below has to be followed closely for the medicine to be absorbed as intended. Unlikely. 1.5mg is the starting dose, used to let your body adjust before the dose is increased. Weight change with Wegovy tablets builds over months at higher doses, alongside changes to eating and activity, so 10 days at 1.5mg is not a test of whether the medicine will work for you.

Yes. It is a prescription-only medicine, and the same assessment applies as for any Wegovy prescription, including an independent check of your weight ( either a video consultation or from your GP records), your medical history and the other medicines you take. Choosing the smaller pack does not shorten or bypass that assessment.
If you want to continue and the prescriber agrees, you move on to the 30-tablet 1.5mg pack. The dose is usually increased only after at least one month at 1.5mg, then to 4mg, 9mg and 25mg, with at least one month at each step and a review before each increase.
Take one tablet once a day on an empty stomach, after not eating or drinking for at least 8 hours (usually first thing in the morning). Swallow it whole with up to half a glass of water (120ml), then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking any other medicines by mouth. Skip the missed tablet and take the next one the following day as normal. Do not take two tablets on the same day.
The most common side effects of Wegovy tablets are stomach-related, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, indigestion and stomach pain, and headache and tiredness are also very common. They are usually mild to moderate. Get medical help straight away for severe stomach pain that does not go away, signs of an allergic reaction, or sudden loss of vision.
We only supply the 10-tablet pack at the 1.5mg starting dose. If you are already taking Wegovy tablets or injections, the prescriber will advise which strength and pack are right for you. You can read how the tablets compare with the injection.
The product information recommends contraception for women who could become pregnant, and Wegovy must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The MHRA advises stopping semaglutide at least 2 months before trying to conceive. Tell the prescriber if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy.
