Lenzetto Spray is a Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). It contains the female hormone oestrogen. Lenzetto is used in postmenopausal women with at least 6 months since their last natural period. Lenzetto can also be used in women who have had surgery to remove their ovaries as this causes instant menopause. Lenzetto is a spray solution which contains small amounts of a medicine called estradiol. When sprayed onto the skin as directed, it passes through the skin into your bloodstream.

Lenzetto is a transdermal oestradiol spray used as part of HRT for menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, and sleep disturbance. Each metered spray delivers 1.53 mg of oestradiol onto the skin, which is then absorbed gradually into the bloodstream over the day.
Like patches and gel, Lenzetto delivers oestrogen through the skin rather than the gut, which means it largely bypasses first-pass liver metabolism. Once absorbed, the hormone enters the circulation and helps replace the oestrogen that naturally falls during the perimenopause and menopause.
The spray is applied to the inner forearm, between the elbow and the wrist. Hold the applicator upright against the skin, press the pump firmly, and let the liquid dry for at least one hour before dressing, washing the area, or letting another person come into contact with it. Most clinicians recommend applying it at the same time each day to maintain steady levels.
The dosing studies for Lenzetto were carried out using the inner forearm as the application site, so this is the area where absorption is best understood and most consistent. Applying it elsewhere can change how much hormone enters the bloodstream and isn't recommended.
Wait at least 60 minutes after spraying before covering the area with clothing, washing it, or letting anyone (especially children or partners) touch the skin. If you need to wash sooner, use cool water and avoid scrubbing — and reapply if needed. Skin-to-skin contact before the spray has dried can transfer oestrogen onto someone else, which matters particularly for young children.
The starting dose is one spray a day, and a clinician can increase this in steps to two or three sprays daily depending on symptom control and tolerability. Don't increase the dose on your own — review with your prescriber first, ideally after at least four to six weeks, since hormone levels take time to stabilise.
Yes, if you have a womb. Lenzetto provides oestrogen only, so a separate progestogen — most commonly micronised progesterone (Utrogestan) or a Mirena coil — is needed to protect the womb lining. Without it, the lining can thicken over time and increase the risk of endometrial cancer.
A single Lenzetto applicator delivers 56 metered doses, which works out at roughly 56 days at one spray a day, 28 days at two, and so on. Most prescriptions are written to match the dose so refills line up with how you're using it.
Reported effects include breast tenderness, headaches, nausea, mood changes, and occasional skin irritation at the application site. Breakthrough bleeding can occur, especially in the first few months. As with any systemic HRT, urgent symptoms — chest pain, severe leg swelling, unexpected breathlessness, sudden severe headache, or visual disturbance — should be assessed straight away.
Many women do switch between transdermal options, usually because of skin reactions, lifestyle preference, or absorption issues. A clinician will work out an equivalent starting dose based on what you've been using and review you within a few weeks to check the new product is working as expected.
The same general HRT cautions apply: a personal history of breast cancer or other oestrogen-sensitive cancers, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, active liver disease, recent or active blood clots, recent stroke or heart attack, and some inherited clotting disorders. A full clinical assessment is essential before starting.
