What is Kliovance?

Kliovance is a hormone replacement therapy product that contains two types of female hormones: Oestrogen and Progestagen.

Kliovance should ideally be used in postmenopausal women with at least 1-year since their last period.

Kliovance can help in two main ways:

• Relieving symptoms occurring after menopause ends
• Prevention of osteoporosis

During menopause, the amount of oestrogen produced by a woman’s body drops significantly which can lead to symptoms such as having a hot face and neck (hot flushes), and in some cases, this can start to affect daily life.

After menopause, some women also start to develop weak and fragile bones, often referred to as Osteoporosis. If you are at an increased risk of bone fractures due to osteoporosis, your doctor may prescribe Kliovance.

How to use Kliovance

Kliovance are tablets used once daily, preferably at the same time each day.

It is recommended that your doctor should prescribe the lowest dose of Kliovance to treat your symptoms for as short a period as possible.

If you have forgotten to take your tablet at your usual time, take it within 12-hours. If more than 12-hours have passed, do not take the tablet, instead, skip the missed dose and start again as normal the next day.

Be aware that forgetting a dose will increase the chances of having some breakthrough bleeding or spotting if your womb is still intact.

Side effects & precautions

Like all medications, Kliovance can have side effects, although it is important to note that not everyone will get them.

If you have already been taking Kliovance prescribed by your GP, you are unlikely to experience any new side effects.

In patients using Kliovance for the first time, some of the more common side effects may include:

• Indigestion
• Acne
• Nausea
• Back pain
• Headaches
• Weight gain
• Breast pain
• Vaginal bleeding

If your blood pressure increases whilst taking Kliovance, you may experience symptoms such as dizziness, headaches and increased tiredness.
